The time has come to stop settling once again. Now infamous smartphone maker Oneplus are bringing their 3rd higher end Android powered phone to market, the Oneplus 3. Rumours have been swirling for a few weeks and now Oneplus have officially announced the launch date and that they are saying goodbye to their much-hated invite to purchase system.

If you want a Oneplus 3 on launch day you’ll be able to put in your order. However, before you do, just check the LTE bands; we spotted the Oneplus 3 going through the FCC last week and noted that the SKU lodged did not support all, or even most, Australian LTE Bands. The model spotted had LTE bands 2,4,5,7,12,17 and 30, whereas in Australia we rely on 1,3,5,7,28 and 40, that will give you band 7 on Telstra and Optus and band 5 on Vodafone.

In a move that smacks of a gimmick, Oneplus are releasing the ‘3’ for sale exclusively in VR for the first 2 hours of its existence. If you want to get in line to buy the Oneplus 3 – remember a lack of an invite system does not mean there will be no waiting to get a unit – then you’ll have to enter “The Loop”, I’ll let Oneplus buzz it up.

To experience the Loop you’ll need to download the app for Android from the Google Play Store.
