Catching them all will be a new challenge for those still playing the smash hit Pokémon Go, with Niantic Labs today announcing a massive new update coming this week.
The update includes 80 new Pokémon, including Chikorita, Cyndaquil, Totodile from the Johto region in Pokémon Gold and Silver with gender variants included.
Evolutions are getting an overhaul as well with new evolutions for the original Pokémon from the Kanto region which will be able to evolve into Pokémon from the Johto region. Niantic will also be adding in new ‘Evolution items’ at PokéStops that they say will be needed to evolve some Pokémon.
Wild Pokémon you see in your travels will also exhibit new behaviour. Niantic says that they will react in different ways when you’re trying to catch them, but with these new behavious will come the ability to select berries or stronger Poké Balls directly from the encounter screen.
Speaking of berries, there’s new ones on their way with Nanab Berries and Pinap Berries soon appearing at PokéStops. There’s different advantages to using these new berry types, ‘Nanab Berry will slow its movements, making it easier to catch. The Pinap Berry doubles the amount of Candy you’ll receive if your next catch attempt succeeds’.
Finally, if your avatar is looking a little drab, a new wardrobe including new hats, shirts, pants, and other items will soon be available.
The update will be heading out later this week, so get set your Pokedex is about to get a big update.
