Mobile World Congress is looming in the near future, and it seems that ZTE has something special up their sleeves for the conference teasing the ‘ZTE Gigabit Phone’.

The Gigabit phone is so-called because of its ability to 5G, allowing for download speeds up to 1Gbps, a speed reminiscent of the recent Qualcomm trials here using the Telstra network. The inclusion of ultra-fast speeds will open the door, ZTE says, to including things like ‘360° panoramic VR video, instant cloud storage, entertainment upgrades and fast cache of ultra Hi-Fi music and movies possible’.

The Gigabit phone will be but one device announced at MWC, with ZTE also set to show off a range of new Blade series phones.

ZTE has been expanding the range of phones they make available here in Australia, and with the new 5G service already tested here, it’s likely we may see this new Gigabit phone, and any new Blade series phones launching here at some stage.
