If you’re looking for an 8-inch Android tablet, Sony might have made the Xperia Z3 Tablet Compact an option hard to pass up, dropping the price by $200 to just $299 at Sony’s online store.

The Xperia Z3 Tablet Coimpact is getting a bit long in the tooth now, having been initially released almost three years ago, but in a market where there’s remarkably few good tablet options, the Xperia Z3 offering still holds its own.

Featuring an unusual IP rating of IP68 for a tablet, with MicroSD support, decent battery life (from its 4,500 mAh battery), 16GB of built-in storage and nice big 8-inch display, you could say the Xperia Z3 Tablet Compact has aged well, and at just $299, I’d consider that it’s bordering on being a bargain.

I know Chris bought and used an Xperia Z3 Tablet Compact when it was released and was rather fond of it, but we never reviewed one on Ausdroid. It does come, however, well recommended — even if the software is a bit dated (it hasn’t been updated past Android 6.0 Marshmallow).

For those looking behind this move, it is possible that Sony are working on a new tablet, and are clearing old stock to make way. Equally, it’s possible they’re looking to sell three year-old tablets while they still have any value.

If you’re looking for something to do some web surfing, reading, email or even a bit of Netflix on, this is quite the bargain.

Is the price alone enough to entice you to purchase this little bargain, or are you waiting for a new Nexus tablet like I am?
