Kogan Mobile has today announced an expansion into mobile broadband, offering data only plans.
The Kogan Mobile Broadband offerings come in two sizes – S and M – presumably a ‘Small’ and ‘Medium’ plan, which will be joined in the future by an ‘L’ plan including larger data inclusions in the future.
Kogan’s S plan offers 8GB of data for $29.90 on a month-to-month basis or for $329.90 when you purchase 12 months in advance; while the M plan offers 30GB of data for $49.90 on a month-to-month basis or $549.90 if you purchase a 12 month package.
There’s a lot of data there, but once your data limit is used Kogan says you will need to purchase another data plan or recharge to continue using data.
Terms for the Kogan Mobile Broadband plans are over 30 days, and utilise the Vodafone 4G network which has been steadily improving over the last few years in terms of both reliability and speed.
David Shafer, Executive Director of Kogan Mobile said the move to mobile broadband was in response to customers who’ve been requesting the service. The service fills a gap in Australian broadband, with Mr Shafer saying
Many Australians still experience the poor quality and slow speeds of legacy ADSL services. Customers who rent their homes may want to avoid going through the process of signing up with an ADSL provider, and avoid fixed-line phone connections — especially when NBN services will continue to be rolled out over the coming years.
