Spotted in a Dick Smith Electronics catalogue this afternoon by eagle-eyed Ausdroid editor Daniel were these two bargains which we thought were cool enough to share with you.

Firstly, the Xperia Z is available on special at Dick Smith now for $624. Bear in mind though, this is a limited-time offer, and the price will revert to $698 after the promotion concludes. When we reviewed the Xperia Z, we were pretty impressed, and at this price, it’s a great option for you to consider.

The second thing Daniel saw, which will be great for you NFC nerds (enthusiasts) out there, are Samsung Tec Tiles available in a pack of five for $14.95. While these aren’t the cheapest NFC tags you can buy, they are probably the easiest ones you can buy in Australia in a bricks-and-mortar store.

With the possibilities for NFC tags only limited by your imagination, these might be a great purchase. I’ve personally used NFC tags placed near the front door to automatically deactivate bluetooth, turn on WiFi, and do a Foursquare checkin at home.

Equally, a tag at work is used to silence my handset, turn off WiFi and Bluetooth, and enable a portable hotspot so I can use my personal laptop when needed without having to fiddle with my phone.

It’s been a long while since NFC first landed here, and the fact that you can now buy programmable NFC tags in a Dick Smith store is a testament to this.
