During the Google I/O keynote, Google showed us the new method for distributing beta version of your app through the play store and now DashClock Widget developer, Roman Nurik has started using this new method for beta testing his app.
The process is quite simple:
- First, join the DashClock Widget community on Google+. If you don’t join the community, the next step won’t work.
- Next, visit this link and click the Become a Tester button. If you ever want to leave the beta program, simply return to that link and choose the appropriate option.
- Finally, visit the Google Play listing page for DashClock Widget to update to latest beta version.
Once you have joined the beta program, you will receive beta updates just like you would regular app updates through the Play Store.
Beta testing any app has its advantages and disadvantages, you will be able to test new features before they are officially released, but you are also likely to run into instability and force closes. Just remember that you are joining the program to test these new features and report bugs so that the developer can fix them before releasing to a wider audience.
To provide feedback on the beta, just file a bug or feature request.
You can remove yourself from the beta program at any time by going back to the link in step two and clicking on ‘Leave the test’
