LG-optimus-L3
The LG Optimus L3 is not your highest end device, but what it is, is a name brand phone from LG from the L-Series of devices which saw LG begin to re-establish their presence in the Australian landscape.

Initially going on-sale with Telstra for $99, the Optimus L3 is now a year old and has already been superceded by the LG L3II, but at $34.50 – half its normal price – it’s a hard bargain to pass up.

Spec wise it’s not going to wow, it’s internals include :

  • 800MHz Processor
  • 1GB RAM – 2GB Internal Storage with MicroSD Card Slot expandable to 32GB
  • 3.2″ QVGA Capacitive Screen at 320×240 resolution
  • 3.2MP Camera with auto focus
  • Bluetooth 3.0, Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n, GPS & FM Radio
  • Android 2.3.6 (Gingerbread)
  • 102.6 x 61.6 x 11.85mm @ 109grams
  • Li-Ion/1500mAh

Whilst it’s still running Gingerbread and there’s no updates planned for it, the phone is fairly decent for your average child or someone who just needs basic functionality. I myself have a couple of these cheap little phones around I use for things like tracking my GPS signal when I go running.

The Optimus L3 goes on-sale on Wednesday the 28th of August. There’s most likely a limited amount available so you may just want to get in early. LG have certainly come a long way in a short amount of time and their phones are pretty decent. This phone is locked to the Telstra network, so you’ll need to take that into account.
