OPPO announced the R11s and the R11s Plus to the world at the beginning of November but at the time there was no news on if or when it would ever make it to Australia. Now we have a date and it is very soon.
In an email to their newsletter subscribers yesterday and today via their Facebook page OPPO have today announced that their new “hero” devices, the R11s and the R11s Plus will be available to Australians on the 5th of February through various retailers and in various colours.
The R11s and the R11s Plus are no secret to the world with the same design language as the OnePlus 5T from their sister-company, OnePlus. It is an upgrade or variation on the R11 that was released in the middle of last year.
The R11s phones are both 18:9 AMOLED 1080P resolution display phones with the R11 6.01 inches while the Plus display measures in at 6.43 inches. Both are powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 660 with 64gb of onboard storage. The R11 has 4GB of RAM while the Plus has 6GB of RAM.
The phones have the same cameras with the rear dual setup comprised of a 16MP f/1.7 and a 20MP f/1.7 display. The cameras function in the same way as the OnePlus 5T with the secondary camera (20MP) used mostly for bokeh/portrait photos and is designed to also be useful in capturing information in low light photos.
The battery sizes are impressive with the R11 housing a 3200mAh battery and the Plus a 4000mAh battery. The Plus is obviously thus the bigger phone with the bigger battery and display and measures 164.8 x 80.2 x 7.3 mm while the R11 is just 155.1 x 75.5 x 7.1 mm.
Unfortunately it will launch with Android 7.1.1 with an upgraded ColorOS 3.2 on the top — it will be interesting to see if this differs from the iOS-like version that arrived with the R11. The phone itself will come in black, red and champagne according to the OPPO Australia website but not all colours will be available at all retailers.
The R11s and R11s Plus will be available from Vodafone, Optus, Virgin Mobile, JB Hi-Fi, Officeworks, Woolworths Mobile, Retravision and Mobileciti although it is unclear if all retailers will carry both versions.

At this stage the price of these phones for Australians is unknown but we hope to find that out sometime this week and have reached out to OPPO for more details — we expect them to be mid-range prices with a very high build quality, just as the R11 was.
