Telstra has quietly added a new entry to its Telstra branded line of prepaid devices, with the Telstra Superior, a rebadged Alcatel 3V, now available for sale for $199.

Telstra has been selling their own branded devices, previously manufactured by ZTE, for a while now but with recent developments with ZTE’s mobile business forced the Telco to drop all ZTE manufactured devices Telstra has since moved on, scrambling to find a new partner to deliver whitelabel prepaid devices. Alcatel has seemingly filled the void with the new Telstra Superior.

The Alcatel 3V, part of the 3 series of devices the company announced earlier this year during MWC 2018, was to be based under the sub $200 price point but still provide mid range specs for a budget price. Based on the spec sheet, plus Dan’s first look at the device, you could do certainly do a lot worse for a device with the same price tag. So what do you get for $199?

The Alcatel 3V is part of a move to begin using the display technology manufactured by their parent company TCL in their handsets. The new 18:9 aspect ratio displays aren’t often found at this end of the market, offering users a premium looking display at a budget price poing.
