The last few months have been big for Android auto with manufacturers such as Mazda, Toyota, Renault, Nissan and Mitsubishi joining the Android Auto fold. Now Jaguar and Land Rover have confirmed that their vehicles will be either arriving with or upgraded to Android Auto in the coming months.
According to MacRumors and confirmed by Jaguar and Land Rover all vehicles with InControl Touch Pro or Touch Pro Duo infotainment systems will be eligible for an upgrade to a package that supports Android Auto (and Apple CarPlay). The connectivity package will be available on all new vehicles for a small fee (which depends on the model and trim level of the car) from 2019 and will also be available to existing owners as part of an upgrade pathway.
The update seems to be already rolling out to vehicles in the UK but at this stage it is unknown when it will arrive here in Australia but we expect it to arrive imminently just as it has been confirmed to be in the US. If you own a Jaguar or Land Rover head into your dealership and ask them when you can grab this update for yourself… I wonder if Jaguar are offering review cars to test it out…
