The long awaited Android 9.0 (Pie) update with the new Samsung One UI is set to roll out to carrier branded Samsung Galaxy S9, S9+ and Note 9 handsets in Australia with testing on the update in progress or completing at carriers now.
Testing on the latest update is completed for all three handsets over at Optus, while at Vodafone the latest software status update lists the update for all three is listed as ‘Testing in progress’. Telstra as usual hasn’t updated their software update page for any of the handsets since the last security patch was released.
The Android 9.0 (Pie) update with One UI is a new direction for Samsung announced back in November at their developer conference in San Francisco. The focus for One UI is on a minimal, clean design that keeps relevant, user interactive content in the bottom half of the screen where it can be reached easily.
One UI has more modern design flair with rounded corners designed to match the phone look, and also incorporates a system wide dark mode that extends throughout apps and the system itself.
The Android 9.0 (Pie) update with One UI has begun rolling out to handsets in the UK and US, and based on the testing finishing up at carriers we don’t have long to wait for the update to begin hitting handsets.
