Networking is something that we all deal with on a regular, if not daily basis; but how seriously do you take it? Personally, I have a network setup that would rival a lot of business networks, so the Asus Expert Wi-Fi range was something I pretty quickly jumped at the chance to plug into my network and take a closer look at.

Asus Expert Wi-Fi EBG19P

The Asus Expert Wi-Fi EBG19P is a business-class wired router aimed at small and mid-sized businesses that need strong network performance and secure connectivity. It’s designed for environments where reliability, centralised control, and data protection are non-negotiable.

This router supports multiple Gigabit Ethernet ports, offering fast, consistent wired connections ideal for offices that handle large files, host internal servers, or rely on uninterrupted access to cloud services. Unlike consumer-grade routers, the EBG19P is engineered for uptime and can comfortably support more devices with higher bandwidth demands.

Security is a standout. The EBG19P has integrated firewall protection, VPN support, and intrusion prevention systems. These are crucial for protecting sensitive business data and minimising vulnerabilities in a corporate network. It also features robust Quality of Service (QoS) settings, which let administrators prioritise traffic. For example, video conferencing and VoIP calls can be given bandwidth priority over less critical traffic like file downloads, ensuring smooth communication and workflow.

This device starts to shine with its management capabilities, specifically through the Asus Expert Wi-Fi app. The app is designed to simplify deployment and day-to-day network management. Through a clean, intuitive interface, administrators can remotely monitor the network, update firmware, set access rules, or even isolate guest networks. It’s optimised for those who may not be deeply technical but still need professional-grade control. The app allows for scalable network setups too, meaning admins can integrate multiple Asus Expert Wi-Fi devices—like access points or switches—and manage them all from one dashboard. This is particularly useful for growing businesses expanding their office footprint or transitioning to hybrid work environments.

A strong point of note is that the EBG19P does not include built-in Wi-Fi; it’s strictly a wired router. Businesses needing wireless coverage will have to pair it with access points, which Asus does provide within the same Expert Wi-Fi ecosystem. That said, the seamless integration between the router, access points, and the Expert Wi-Fi app helps minimise the friction of setting up and managing a hybrid wired-wireless network.

The Asus Expert Wi-Fi EBG19P is built for organisations that need dependable wired performance and enterprise-level features without diving into overly complex networking gear. Its app-based management and ecosystem flexibility make it a strong contender for professional settings that value control, security, and growth potential.

Asus Expert Wi-Fi EBA63 Access Point

The ASUS Expert Wi-Fi EBA63 is a dual-band Wi-Fi 6 access point designed for small to medium-sized businesses seeking scalable, secure, and easily managed wireless networking. With support for up to 100 active devices, it delivers robust performance and integrates seamlessly into the ASUS Expert Wi-Fi ecosystem.

Powered by a 1.7 GHz quad-core processor, the EBA63 offers combined speeds of up to 3 Gbps—574 Mbps on the 2.4 GHz band and 2402 Mbps on the 5 GHz band. It supports 160 MHz channel bandwidth and 2×2 MU-MIMO, ensuring efficient data transmission even in dense environments. The device includes four internal antennas and supports both Power over Ethernet (PoE) and traditional AC power, providing flexibility in deployment.

The EBA63 features the Self-Defined Network (SDN) function, allowing administrators to create up to five separate SSIDs with VLAN support. This enables segmentation of networks for employees, guests, and IoT devices, enhancing security and traffic management. The access point also supports WPA3 encryption, MAC filtering, and offers real-time traffic monitoring.

Installation is straightforward, with options for wall or ceiling mounting. The EBA63 can operate independently or integrate into an ASUS AiMesh network, allowing for seamless roaming and centralised management. When paired with other ASUS Expert Wi-Fi devices, such as the EBG19P router, network settings can be managed centrally, simplifying administration.

While the EBA63 is compatible with non-ASUS routers, optimal performance and feature access are achieved when used within the ASUS ecosystem. Additionally, some users have noted that long-range performance on the 5 GHz band could be improved.

The ASUS Expert Wi-Fi EBA63 is a solid choice for businesses seeking a reliable and secure Wi-Fi 6 access point. Its robust feature set, ease of management, and integration capabilities make it suitable for various business environments. However, for those requiring extensive 5 GHz coverage, additional planning or equipment may be necessary.

System performance: It hits all the marks

Once setup, the system performance is excellent but I’m still not sure that it’s got all the features and configurability I’d expect. You’ve got capacity for VPN tunnels both in and out of your network, VLANs, Wi-Fi settings out the wazoo, plenty of LAN configurability in general, VLANs, great configurability on the Firewall, and even multi-WAN connection.

You can also do a bunch of network and data analytics on your connection from the router (and app) which is great to identify a potential bandwidth hole (or user) on your network. Provided you’ve got the bandwidth there though, there’s really not any reason you’d see performance issues because there’s plenty of grunt to keep your network running at speed.

Expert means all the options… right?

Yes, and no…
While it’s got all the configurability you’d expect, it’s not as easy as I though it would be; let me explain that. Essentially it boils down to the fact that all the options are there, but to get things moving it’s far easier to start the process on the app, then move to the web interface once the router’s initial setup is done; a process I’d suggest is more “prosumer” than “professional”, but that’s just my 2c.

This is also where I kind of tripped over in setting up the access points I had on loan. The app is actually pretty well designed to get the job done, even with multiple devices being connected (adopted if you want to use other brand terminology) you can have the app automatically push common Wi-Fi settings out to all new, unconfigured access points quickly and easily. I just haven’t found a way to do that in the web interface from a PC.

If I’m brutally honest, this is gear that feels like it’s aimed at small business with a ‘prosumer’ on staff, or a smaller IT company looking after their network with the way the setup flows. That’s not to specifically criticise the functionality, that is very good, but the install process just feels a bit clunky compared to some other truly business grade network hardware options.

Is the Asus Expert Wi-Fi range worth looking at?

It’s gear I’d consider for my home, or even in a business setting provided I had someone on staff to manage the hardware. There’s plenty of functionality; you can segment devices or sections of your network and protect your devices and data through a highly configurable firewall.

The Asus Expert Wi-Fi EBG19P carries a RRP of AU$299.00 and the Asus Expert Wi-Fi EBA63 Access Point an RRP of AU$249.00 per unit. This makes the pathway to building a scalable system very affordable and worth looking into.

Ultimately, the Asus Expert WiFi EB63 isn’t just about seamless connectivity; it’s about empowering businesses with the robust, reliable network they need to thrive. By simplifying setup and offering enterprise-grade features, the EB63 clears the path for innovation and growth, allowing you to focus on what truly matters: building a successful future for your business. It’s a really solid experience, which you can pick up through Asus online and key retail partners.
