HP is certainly embracing Android, they’ve officially announced the HP Slatebook 14, we saw leaked back in April. The Slatebook 14 is of course HP’s Android running laptop, and it’s certainly a cheery, vibrant looking machine.
Priced at US$399, the Slatebook PC, is actually priced just above their Chromebook offerings in the US. The Slatebook 14 will be powered by an Nvidia Tegra 4 CPU and 2GB of RAM, it will come with 64GB of on-board storage but we also spy an SD Card reader on the right hand-side. As the name suggests, the laptop will come with a 14″ screen, a touchscreen at that, which supports a 1920 x 1080 resolution, though the laptop is also capable of displaying scaled down 4K content.
While the Slatebook 14 is running Android, there’s been no announcement of which version of Android it will run, but you can expect that based on their previous offerings, it will be mostly stock but with HP software included.
The Slatebook 14 has only been announced for the US market at this stage, where it’s expected to launch in August. We have of course asked HP Australia about whether the Slatebook 14 will be making an appearance in Australia and we’ll let you know what they say.
