Galaxy Alpha
Samsung announced the Galaxy Alpha last week, showing off a new design and materials which they called ‘the evolution of Galaxy Design’. It was announced for release in September, but not into which markets, today Samsung Australia has announced that the Galaxy Alpha will be making an appearance in Australia this year.

Samsung Australia released a brief statement about the Galaxy Alpha, advising :

Samsung Electronics Australia can confirm the globally announced Galaxy Alpha will be made available in Australia in 2014. We look forward to announcing local pricing and availability for this exciting new addition to the Galaxy smartphone range closer to local launch.

The Galaxy Alpha, with its metal frame, has re-ignited interest in the Galaxy line even with less than high-end specs. Pricing should be commensurate with the specifications and materials, with the phone has been priced in Europe at €599 and $649 in the US, so we should be seeing an outright price around the $700-$750 mark here in Australia, if that pricing structure is anything to go by. What price and which carriers it launches on will be the next question.

The phone comes in Charcoal Black, Dazzling White, Frosted Gold, Sleek Silver, and Scuba Blue colour options, but we don’t expect to see all five options available at launch. If you work at a carrier and see some information on the Galaxy Alpha — or indeed any phone coming — be sure to let us know.
