HP has made a bit of a reputation for themselves here, and around the world for releasing products with little, to no fanfare and this tradition continues with Officeworks offering the HP 7″ Plus G2 Android tablet for $149.

HP 7%22 Plus G2 Tablet - Officeworks Nov 2014 catalogue

The 7″ Plus G2 is the follow up from the 7″ Plus tablet which launched earlier this year. The original HP 7 Plus also launched at the $149 price point, before dropping it down to $99 clearance a few months later.

The full list of specs for the HP 7″ Plus G2 include:

  • 7″ IPS display (1280 x 720)
  • 1.2 Ghz Allwinner A33 ARM Cortex™ A7 Quad Core Processor
  • 1GB RAM
  • 8GB memory, expandable to 32GB via microSD Card
  • 2MP rear camera, 0.3MP front facing
  • WiFi 802.11 (b,g,n) with Bluetooth v4.0
  • Android 4.2 (Jelly Bean)
  • Dimensions: 188.2 (H) x 101 (W) x 8.7mm (D), 256g

The HP 7 Plus G2 comes with a base OS level of Android 4.2, which is now over a year old and with HP’s history of updates, we don’t expect this to receive any love on that front. The HP software load generally includes HP Android apps like media player, file manager and printer applications bundled with the tablet, so there’s some good functions built in.

The 7″ Plus G2 tablet is available both online and through your local Officeworks store for $149.

Officeworks are also offering the bigger brother to the 7″ Plus G2 tablet in the same catalogue which starts tomorrow, the 10″ Plus G2 tablet, for $296 both online and through your local store as well.
