Acer launched the industries first 15.6″ Chromebook at CES earlier this year. Powered by Nvidia’s Tegra K1, the Chromebook wasn’t to everyones liking. Today at their next@acer event in New York, Acer has unveiled a new Chromebook, again with a 15.6″ screen but this time around powered by an Intel Celeron processor.
The Chromebook 15 – model # CB3-531 – comes with a dual-core Intel Celeron N2830 processor and 2GB of RAM. Intel HD graphics power the 15.6″ display, which disappointingly only comes with a 1366×768 resolution. The Chromebook comes with 16GB of storage but as usual has an SD/SDXC Card slot which will take up to a 128GB card. The Chromebook also comes with a HD Webcam and front-facing speakers.
The Chromebook has seen some ruggedisation making it perfect for the education market, with Acer engineering the Chromebook to withstand up to 60kg of force, with the corners of the Chromebook also re-inforced to take drops up to 45cm drops.
The spec list is rounded off with Bluetooth 4.0, a USB 3.0 port, USB 2.0 port and HDMI port.
Availability has only been announced for the US and European markets where it will sell for US$199 starting in July or for €249 from June.
