As each day goes by, the Samsung Note 7 recall seems to dominate the news. Today we have been contacted by a major US reshipper – Shipito – to inform us that:
Due to restrictions put in place by the FAA and IATA as well as all of the major carriers, …. [we] are not currently able to ship or return the Samsung Galaxy Note 7 on behalf of our customers. This includes all warranty returns, and the new Note 7 replacement version until further notice.
For those who either ‘grey’ imported their devices or purchased them while overseas, this may present an issue with returning these device for replacement. We’re not sure if Samsung anticipated issues such as this, and if so, if they will be offering local replacement stock for these customers. One can only hope they’ve at least considered it, though with a couple of different hardware variants, it might be something best dealt with on an exception basis.
If you’ve got such a device we suggest you contact Samsung via their Note 7 support page and request assistance, and as always, stop using your Note 7.
