Huawei’s P20 Pro launches in Australia next week, but there’s two more phones coming that you might not have heard about (mainly because we missed that bit in the press release – mea culpa). Alongside the P20 Pro is launching the nova 3e (pictured above), and the nova 2lite.
If the look of the nova 3e is familiar, that’s because in many other markets it’s being released as the P20 Lite .. hence the very distinctive P20 design. Huawei is marketing these two phones towards young and dynamic users, and with prices well below $500 each, these are affordable phones promising exceptional value.
Huawei nova3e
The nova 3e features a 16-megapixel and 2-megapixel dual camera, Quick Charge 2.0, 64GB memory with 4GB RAM, a 5.84-inch FullView Display FHD+ screen (2280×1080) in a svelte 19.9 screen-to-body ratio. The nova 3e’s display is sharp and precise with retina HD and 432 pixels per inch and a contrast ratio of 1500:1 for richer colours and more natural skins tones.
By mapping 96 recognition points, the Huawei nova 3e’s 16MP front camera ensures the perfect selfie with every shot, a pain point with digital cameras in lower-light conditions result in low-quality, grainy photos and poor colours. The Huawei nova 3e eliminates this by utilising light re-balancing technology that integrates light from different sources to optimize brightness and reduce signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) by 300 percent.
Huawei nova 2lite
The nova 2lite features a 13-megapixel and 2-megapixel dual camera, 32GB memory with 3GB RAM, a 5.99” HD+ FullView Display compacted into a 5.5-inch body, a bezel-less 18:9 aspect ratio, which coupled with a 2.5D curve glass panel, supports its sleek body and comfortable grip. Camera functionality is where the Huawei nova 2lite excites, sporting a 13-megapixel and 2-megapixel dual rear camera that provides bokeh effects (up to 7 aperture levels) and a 8-megapixel front-facing camera with a 10-level beauty mode, that uses an advanced selfie toning flash to intelligently adjust light for a natural looking images, the Huawei nova 3e delivers the perfect selfie anytime and anywhere.
Common features
Both the nova 3e & nova 2lite feature EMUI 8.0, which take full advantage of the benefits provided by integrating software and hardware to optimise the CPU for powerful performance, smooth user experience and more seamless human to machine interaction. EMUI 8.0 intelligently adapts and responds to users’ habits, through machine learning, to intelligently predict their future needs for experience and performance excellence; which includes ensuring adequate operational space. Multi-tasking features offered by EMUI 8.0 include the floating navigation dock, three finger fast screenshot and smart split screen.
