Here we go, it’s leak time again with a post on Reddit giving us a look at — supposedly — the Pixel 4a 5G and Pixel 5. Interestingly, the original comments were deleted but not before they were captured by other Redditors.

Redditor posts possible live photos of the Pixel 4a 5G and Pixel 5 from Android

The post outlines a number of key areas of the expected devices.

Pixel 4a 5G on the right in the header image has a Snapdragon 765G processor, 6GB RAM and a 60Hz screen that’s powered by a 3,800mAh battery. The camera setup is similar to the Pixel 4, perhaps not as brilliant as the Pixel faithful might like but functional nonetheless. The specs are 0.5x wide-angled lens, one standard lens (same lens as Pixel 4) 12.2MP back and 8MP front-facing. It’s important to note that megapixels don’t make the camera but they do contribute to the results.

Being a Pixel “a” device, it shouldn’t be a surprise that the back is a plastic finish to reduce costs and includes a fingerprint sensor on the rear. Providing the information is accurate, the Pixel 4a 5G has a headphone jack for those who need the connectivity.

The Pixel 5 on the left in the header image really only has a couple of different specs over the 4a 5G as far as we know at this stage. Those specifics are:

  • 4000mAh battery
  • 8GB RAM
  • 60Hz/90Hz screen
  • No audio jack

It’s exciting to see the developments of devices in the current era, as well as the efforts from manufacturers to make phones more affordable while still performing well. The Pixel range has gone from competing as an ultra-premium device to a seriously good mid-range device in the latest iterations. It will be interesting what Pixel Experience goodness they can roll into this “mid-range” flagship.

What do you need to see from these upcoming devices to take the leap and buy one?
