Motorola, a Lenovo company, has launched two new stylish, bright mid tier G series devices, the Moto G05 and Moto G15 which will retail for under $230.

Both devices, which form its latest Moto G family offering for 2025, and come as cost-conscious Australians seek offerings that don’t compromise on quality, with both devices boasting all that’s needed to enjoy and create while on-the-go from a 50MP camera system guaranteeing quality images, to NFC capabilities for tap to pay convenience, all backed by an ultra-efficient performance thanks to RAM Boost.

Kurt Bonnici, Head of Motorola, Australia and New Zealand has stated at the launch of both devices that:

“Motorola is committed to making innovation accessible to all, and these two new devices are an example of that. The moto g series has always pushed the boundaries of what was expected from a mid-tier device, and here we are leveling up the design, security and features on offer, ensuring more Australians have access to the best tech.

“We have taken time and consideration when crafting these devices, to ensure they offer innovations that Australians want, with the moto g15’s impressive 50MP1 camera complemented by an ultrawide lens, that allows 4×3 more of the scene in the frame than a standard lens. For the moto g05, we have introduced tap to pay and tap to share6, meaning one of our most affordable offerings now has the level of convenience one would expect from a premium device.”

Moto G05

The Moto G05 is the more budget friendly option and has been designed as perfect companion for those who love to consume, create, and share. Thanks to the introduction of New Field Communication (NFC), users can easily share content captured on the device’s 50MP Quad Pixel Camera system.

The Moto G05 comes with a 6.7-inch IPS LCD display (1604 × 720p @ 263pp), that is powered by an Octa-core MediaTek Helio G81 Extreme processor, 12GB RAM and 64GB inbuilt storage which can be expanded to 1TB via MicroSD card.

In terms of cameras, the Moto G05 comes with dual rear camera set up made up of a combined 50MP with the front facing camera being a 8MP camera which should still give you those insta come snap chat of TikTok flawless pics and videos.

The one thing that is interesting and a little disappointing is that the Moto G05 doesn’t come with 5G capabilities so you will be limited to just 4G mobile connectivity which isn’t bad but if you’re after 5G then you might want to look elsewhere.

The Moto G05 also comes with NFC capabilities, IP54 dust protected and water resistance, Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac, dual-band capabilities, Bluetooth version 5.4, Dual SIM (2 Nano SIMs + 1 microSD) capable, Fingerprint reader and Face unlock.

For those who prefer having a 3.5mm audio jack with their devices, then you’re definitely in luck with the Moto G05 coming with a 3.5mm audio jack. The Moto G05 also runs the latest version of Android 15 right out of the box but it’s unclear how many years it will be supported for major OS and security updates.

The Moto G05 is available in vegan leather from 20 February in Plum Red, Forest Green and Misty Blue and available through various retail partners such as JB Hi Fi, The Good Guys, Officeworks, Big W, Harvey Norman, Bing Lee, Amazon, Mobile Citi, and motorola.com.au for $179, with Fresh Lavender colour being exclusively available through Big W for the same price.

Moto G15.

The Moto G15 is the more mid tier range and delivers the perfect blend of unmatched entertainment and uncompromised security. Invested in offering cost-conscious users the most immersive entertainment experience, Motorola has equipped this device with state of the art features that deliver just that.

The Moto G15 comes with a 6.7-inch IPS LCD display (2400 x 1080 @ 391ppi) that is powered by an Octa-core MediaTek Helio G81 Extreme processor, 4GB RAM which is expandable up to 12GB with RAM Boost, 128GB onboard storage which can be expanded to 1TB via MicroSD card.

In terms of cameras, the Moto G15 comes with a triple rear camera set up made up of a combined 50MP camera lens and a 5MP ultrawide lens, with the selfie camera also being an 8MP camera.

Interestingly, like the Moto G05, the Moto G15 also doesn’t come with 5G mobile connectivity meaning you are just limited to the 4G networks which isn’t bad but I feel this could be a major missed opportunity for Motorola to bring more affordable 5G capable devices to the market.

The Moto G15 also comes with Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac | 2.4GHz & 5GHz | Wi-Fi hotspot, NFC, Bluetooth version 5.4, Fingerprint reader, Face unlock and Dual SIM (2 Nano SIMs + 1 microSD) capability.

For those who prefer having a 3.5mm audio jack with their devices, then you’re definitely in luck with the Moto G15 coming with a 3.5mm audio jack.

The Moto G15 also runs the latest version of Android 15 right out of the box, however Motorola have stated that it will not receive any major OS updates but will receive security updates until December 2026. Honestly I do feel this is a major oversight given we are starting to see at least for similar devices 2 to 5 or even 7 years worth of major OS updates and security updates. Having just under 2 years worth of security updates, it would have been expected to at least receive one if not two major OS updates. I am hoping that Motorola does change this decision but I doubt it will happen.

moto g15 is available in vegan leather from 20 February in Gravity Grey, Sunrise Orange and Iguana Green colours through retail partners such as JB Hi Fi, The Good Guys, Officeworks, Big W, Harvey Norman, Amazon, MobileCiti and motorola.com.au for $229.
