Motorola has announced 2 new mid-tier devices Moto G devices to its G family series, with the Moto G56 5G and Moto G86.
According to the company, both devices deliver an impressive mix of features, focusing on powerful battery life, stunning entertainment and vivid capture, both devices challenge the limits of what Australians can expect from a smartphone under $500.
Praveena Raman, Head of Motorola, ANZ stated that:

“We’ve listened closely to what our consumers want, and the moto g86 power 5G was built with this feedback in mind. It features our largest battery yet, a powerful 6720mAh delivering up to 53 hours of power on a single charge, so users can stay connected longer without compromise.
“The moto g56 5G, on the other hand, is all about complementing the everyday while elevating entertainment. Its splendour doesn’t end at its beautiful design and impressive durability. It’s also equipped with a super bright 6.7-inch display, and immersive sound, thanks to Bass Boost and Dolby Atmos, delivering rich audio you’d typically expect of more premium devices.”

moto g86 power 5G
The moto g86 power 5G is built for those who never want to slow down. Whether it’s a weekend away, back-to-back meetings, or hours of streaming, this device is built to keep up.
The Moto G86 Power 5G comes with a 6.7-inch AMOLED display (2712 x 1220 446ppi) that supports 120Hz refresh rate with 4500nits that is powered by a MediaTek Dimensity 7300 chipset alongside 8GB RAM and 128GB of onboard storage which can be expanded via MicroSD card.
In terms of cameras, the Moto G68 Power 5G comes with a triple rear camera set up made up of a 50MP Sony – LYTIA 600 sensor, an 8MP ultra wide sensor and a flicker sensor whilst the selfie camera on the front of the device is a 32MP lens.
The Moto G68 Power 5G comes with a USB Type-C charger, Bluetooth 5.4, dual SIM capabilities, NFC, Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac/ax 2.4 GHz | 5 GHz, Wi-Fi 6 and Wi-Fi hotspot.
The Moto G68 Power 5G will run Android 15 right out of the box and Motorola have stated that it will get only one major software update (so Android 16) but it will get 3 years worth of bi monthly security updates.
The Moto G68 Power 5G will be available in two colours, PANTONE Spellbound, PANTONE Cosmic Sky and will be available through the Motorola website alongside retail partners B HiFi, Harvey Norman, Officeworks, The Good Guys, Bing Lee, Mobileciti and Amazon for $499.
moto g56 5G
The moto g56 5G is what the company is stating is designed to meet the needs of those who want both style and substance. It blends sleek, modern design with practical durability, featuring a soft, easy-to-grip premium finish that looks and feels refined. Built to handle the unexpected, the device offers military-grade toughness, underwater protection, and Corning Gorilla® Glass 7, providing enhanced scratch resistance and three times better drop protection than its predecessor.
The moto g56 5G comes with a 6.7-inch LCD display (2400 x 1080 @ 391ppi) that supports a full 120Hz refresh rate that is powered by an 2.6GHz octa-core MediaTek Dimensity 7060 processor chipset with either two versions of ram being 4GB RAm and 128GB onboard storage or 8GB of RAM and 256GB of onboard storage which can be expanded to 1TB via MicroSD card.
In terms of cameras, the moto g56 5G dual rear camera set up made up of a 50MP Sony LYTIA 600 sensor and a 8MP ultra-wide angle lens and an ambient light sensor lens, whilst the front facing is a single 32MP lens.
The moto g56 5G comes with a 3.5mm headset jack, USB-C charger port, Bluetooth 5.3, Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac, 2.4GHz & 5GHz and Wi-Fi hotspot.
The moto g56 5G will run Android 15 right out of the box, however it is unclear if the device will see any major OS updates or security updates as motorola haven provided this information to date.

For the 4GB/128GB onboard storage will be available from Motorola alongside retail partner Vodafone and Optus for $299
For the 8GB/256GB onboard storage options, these will be available through Motorola directly alongside retail partners B HiFi, Harvey Norman, Officeworks, The Good Guys, Bing Lee, Mobileciti and Amazon for $399.
