As recently as this week we’ve seen suggestions, well mostly trolling, that the next version of Android could be Liquorice. But a new screenshot surfaced today has pointed at Android Lollipop being the current favourite, at least with internal developers who create debug icons for test builds of Android.
Though previously we’ve heard that Googlers were using Lemon Meringue Pie as the Debug icon, as well as referencing LMP in their commits to the Android Open Source Project (AOSP), it appears the trend may have changed. MyCE noticed a new screenshot attached to an issue logged in the Chromium Issue Tracker, which shows a lollipop icon in the status bar, indicating the device is in debug mode.
Though queries in AOSP still show results for LMP, there’s no corresponding matches for ‘lollipop’ at this stage, indicating that even developers submitting to the Chromium Bug Tracker could be trolling us – much like the maker of the Android Lawn statues has done this week.
Google is rumoured to launch both the Nexus 6 and Nexus 9, both running Android L tomorrow (October 15th in the US), so it shouldn’t be long before this is all cleared up, but we still think Android Lamington would be awesome.
Lemon Meringue Pie, Lollipop, Liquorice, Lamington? What will it be?
