Google began rolling out the Android 5.0.1 update in early December, posting images to the Nexus factory images page, followed by rolling out OTA updates a day later. Notably missing was updates for the Nexus 5 and Nexus 6, though the Nexus 6 has now been added to the list. But no OTA updates have been seen so far, but this will be remedied shortly according to US carrier T-Mobile, who have updated their support pages for both the Nexus 5 and Nexus 6 to state the phones will begin receiving their OTA updates today.
The update will bring both phones from build Android 5.0 (LRX21O) to Android 5.0.1 (LRX22C). While the information comes from T-Mobile, the update itself should be fairly generic and will be sent out to all Nexus phones, although you may have to wait for your carrier to approve the update (if you’re on Telstra).
In terms of what’s new in the update, there’s not a huge amount, but you can see what’s changed in this changelog found over on Changelog.to thanks to Funky Android and a script written by JBQ.
If you see the update, let us know so we can share the OTA link with everyone.
