Asphalt 8
After being announced for release on August 8th at the Breakfast with Sundar event, where it was shown off as an example of how good the Nexus 7 (2013) and OpenGL 3.0 ES could look Asphalt 8: Airborne from Gameloft has finally arrived in Google Play.

Asphalt 8 offers you the opportunity to drive 47 high-performance cars from manufacturers such as Lamborghini, Bugatti, Ferrari, Pagani and more, in exotic locations such as Venice, French Guiana, Iceland and the Nevada Desert.

As expected with the name Asphalt 8: Airborne there is definitely a stunt component to the game, with the description advising you can send your car spinning through barrel rolls and 360º jumps while performing stunts.

At a bargain basement price of just $0.99 the popular driving looks great. Although it appears that even though you pay for it upfront, there are in-app purchases also available in the game according to the description that states – ‘This app allows you to purchase virtual items within the app’.

Announced for iOS this morning, it has finally arrived in Google Play. Gameloft has done well so far this year launching game titles on the same day across both platforms but it would be a much better proposition to simply submit their games to the App Store and Google Play at the same time and just launch whichever is approved/loaded first.

It’s a pretty big download – 1.53GB and it’s been going for a while on my Optus connection but cannot wait to play it, from the trailer it looks brilliant. Hopefully I’ll be able to bring you a full review soon.
