Google has overnight announced that their Drive app will be splitting into new offline capable apps for Docs, Sheets and coming soon Slides.
The Google Drive app will continue to let you view and organise all your documents stored in Drive. The new Apps will only come into effect once you try to edit them, at which point you’ll be prompted to download the individual apps. The new apps will allow you to quickly get to your Docs, Sheets or Presentations easily.
The new apps have offline capability, so you can view, edit and create without an internet connection. These new documents created offline will of course sync as soon as you connect back to the net.
Both the new apps are available to download from Google Play right now, they’re only availab;e for devices running Android 4.0 and above. Grab Docs and Sheets right now and see what you think, and keep an eye out for Sheets shortly.
