The timeframe for having apps refunded on Google Play was lowered to 15 minutes back in December 2010. But that seems to have changed, the guys over at Android Police running a series of tests which shows that a majority of Apps and Games on Google Play now have a 2 hour window for refund.
The team tested the window on several apps, and it appears to be a fairly reliable 2 hour window now. It hasn’t been officially acknowledged by Google as yet though, the official Google Play support page for refunds still lists the window for refunds at 15 Minutes. After testing this out fairly extensively, Android Police asked Google about the change to the refund window and Google advised :
[We] only advertise a 15-minute refund window, that is the guaranteed window for a user, but [we] do extend the window in some cases to account for download times.
The window remains at 15 minutes ‘officially’, but unofficially, it appears you can now enjoy a two hour break between downloading and refunding your apps and games. Android Police suggest the change could just be a test, but it seems to be the way it is…for now. May as well enjoy it while it lasts.
