If you’re using Android, chances are you’re a fairly hefty user of Gmail. Google has been adding more features and functions to Gmail of late, adding the ability to use Yahoo, Outlook and other services, including Exchange supports in the update to Gmail version 5.0 last year. Now Google has added some more tweaks to the functionality adding a few new features.
First up is a unified inbox, allowing you to view all your email, no matter which account it appears in, in one stream. You can activate the new feature by selecting the “All Inboxes” option in Gmail.
Google has also improved their conversation threading in email that comes from external providers. While Gmail email threads generally look great with conversations, other providers aren’t so great. From this update though, you’ll find that conversations from Outlook, Yahoo and other email services will begin looking just like their Gmail counterparts:
Google has also introduced a few more minor functions such as smarter search with better auto-complete and new more responsive animations, larger attachments and single tap to save attachments to Drive.
The update will be rolling out from today to Gmail users – look out for that prompt to update your app in Google Play.
