Australian development house Halfbrick Studios, makers of Fruit Ninja, Jetpack Joyride and countless other excellent games has released a brand new game on iOS and Android at the same time. Called Bears vs. Art, the game is described by Halfbrick as ‘the studio’s first true puzzle game’.
Bears vs. Art, like all the Halfbrick titles, looks like a lot of fun. The game is about Rory the bear and his seeming hatred of art, all art. Abstract, postmodern, landscapes – Rory seems determined to kill the art, which fits in with the official synopsis:
The game has a pretty large amount of things to do featuring 150 levels spanning six diverse islands, so you should be kept quite busy. Playing through each gallery you’ll have to dodge obstacles to beat the clock, or plan your moves to beat the spikes lasers, snooty art patrons, thieves and security guards, and ‘mind-bending portals’.
From our initial first look, Bear vs. Art is fun to play, with a lot of really neat puzzles. There’s also an ‘Infinite Mode’ which you can share to Facebook – no Google Play Games integration here – and it has a brilliantly clean, fun visual style. Bear vs. Art is a freemium game – it’s free to download, but contains in-app purchases – which Google Play informs us range in price from $1.29 – $64.99 per item. IAP includes ‘upgradable costumes, an RPG skill tree, more customisation options’ as well as a photo mode.
