In what amounts to an incremental update, Google has expanded the maximum number of concurrent connections for a Google Hangouts video call from 15 to 25 people. The update is automatic so if you’re eligible you won’t have to do anything to get it. To minimise the impact on bandwidth for all participants only the 10 “most active” participants video will be displayed at the bottom of the screen.
The update is only for Google Apps customers at the moment so if you were hoping to increase the number of people you invite to your Hangouts, unfortunately, this won’t work unless you’re an apps user.
