In case you missed it this week at Woolworths Google Play Gift Cards are 20% off. In the Woolworths brochure, we saw an unfamiliar gift card that did not have a specific dollar amount on it leading us to speculate that it was possibly a blank card that could be loaded with a dollar amount of your choosing. Seems we were right.
Today, we have noticed that at various outlets, including Coles and Woolworths, we are seeing these Google Play Gift Cards that can be loaded with custom amounts. Amounts between $20 and $500 can be added to the cards — remember though that the cards can only be used to purchase apps and services such as books, music etc, NOT devices/hardware. How this works with the current sale at Woolworths — considering that these Christmas-themed “load and go” cards were included in the advertisement — we are assuming that if you put $100 on a card it should only cost you $80 (at Woolworths this week).
So head on over to your local supermarket (or wherever you normally buy your Gift Cards from) and check out the new cards. Remember they are on sale this week at Woolworths when you do though.
Update: At this stage we’ve tried buying these cards in two stores and had mixed luck getting them to load properly. It might be a day or two until all POS systems are updated to handle these new cards.
Does this make a difference to you or are you just happy with the fixed amounts you can already buy?
