The Google Assistant has fast become one of my favourite features of the Pixel, and it’s neat on Google Home as well. While Google has announced that the assistant will be coming to Android Auto, Android TV and devices running Marshmallow and above, it won’t be coming to tablets.
The rollout of Assistant has begun with devices in the US, Canada, UK, Germany and of course Australia starting to now be able to use Google Assistant. While phones were receiving it, Android Police reached out to Google to find out about tablets and received this statement:
The Assistant will be available on Android Marshmallow and Nougat phones with Google Play Services, this does not include tablets.
Without resorting to modifying your build.prop file on your tablet, there’s little you can do to get Assistant on your tablet. Google has so far not advised whether Assistant will ever arrive on tablets, but may answer that in the coming weeks as the rollout to phones is completed.
