Aldi Mobile has had a makeover with a new look launching alongside some updated plans. While the company hasn’t quite lost the people-using-soft-drink-bottles-as-phones imagery, the new look seems to be a part of Aldi Mobile’s largest assault yet on the Australian pre-paid market, with television ads popping up promoting the service.

Some plans offer additional data alongside others offering greater combined call/SMS allowances. The new plans took effect on November 3.

Pay As You Go

Aldi has changed and simplified the options for ‘pay as you go’ plans, which are now $15 or $30.

Both options offer the same rates:

  • Calls at 12c per minute
  • SMS at 12c each
  • MMS at 35c each, and
  • Data at 5c per MB

You can also purchase data packs. $16.50 gets you 1.5GB, while $30 gets you 3GB. Data packs have a 30 day expiry.

Go recharges last 365 days but given the low included value it’ll probably be hard to make it that the distance, though your mileage may vary.

Value Packs

The Value Packs see a cheaper per-minute and per-SMS rate (each 10c), while the MMS rate drops to 30c. They expire in 30 days, and the additional data packs may only be added once during this time, and on M/L/XL plans you have to use 70% of your data before you can add it.

  S $10 M $20 L $30 XL $35
Aldi 2 Aldi Calls Free calls & SMS
Credit $10 $30 $65 $125
Data N/A 400MB 1.25GB 2GB
Additional Data 100MB = $5 300MB = $7 1GB = $10 1GB = $10
