Although it may be a few months late (although on time depending on which schedule you look at), the HTC Wildfire on Telstra now has the Android 2.2 update ready and waiting for users to download. The update is being done over the air (FOTA), thank goodness, seeing as though the HTC Desire update through HTC’s software update tool went pear-shaped. Telstra recommend you download the 56MB update via home Wi-Fi as they’re not willing to let users download the update for free on the NextG network. So go on, update your Wildfire and let us know what you think. Here’s some of the new features Telstra would like their users to know about.
- A portable Wi-Fi hotspot mode where you can share HTC Wildfire’s mobile broadband connection with Wi-Fi enabled devices in close proximity.
- A bigger text box to make composing SMS messages easier.
- The ability to store apps on external memory.
- New setting options including being able to independently change ringtone, media and alarm volume.
