Update: We’ve tried Skype Video calling on Android handsets between the various Ausdroid offices in Sydney Melbourne and Perth and it works just fine.. though over 3G, there can be a bit of lag but it’s quite usable. Let us know how you’ve found it.

Finally, an update to Skype nearly every user of the voice and video calling service has wanted, Video Calling to other Android devices. Before we get carried away, Skype has said there’s official support for only 4 Android devices at the present time: Google Nexus S, HTC Desire S, Sony Ericsson Xperia Neo and Sony Ericsson Xperia Pro. Lucky for us Australians 3 of those 4 device are available from our carriers.

Droid-Life posted an article a few days ago with a tampered-with APK that allows Video Calling — unofficially of course — to the Samsung Galaxy S II, HTC EVO 3D and HTC Sensation. Once again 2 of those 3 devices are (and will be) available from our carriers. If you have one of the devices that’s officially supported head over to the Android Market and download Skype, if you have one of the devices unofficially supported, click the source link below.
