Just a day after announcing Project Glass, Google’s co-founder, Sergey Brin, was spotted (and interviewed) at a charity event for the Foundation Fighting Blindness (ironically) sporting the HUD unit. In an interview with The Verge, Brin asked for people to give Google time to take a look at all the feedback they get before announcing anything concrete about a release. When asked about the Project Glass unit he was wearing, he said:

“right now you really just see it reboot.”

There was no clarification given about whether the unit is self-powered, but Brin did state that the unit would be able to connect to all kinds of different devices — most likely through Bluetooth and Wi-Fi. Google are also taking possible RF radiation from the unit very seriously and will put it through all the needed tests to ensure it is within safe standards.

Personally, I’m not the biggest fan of the design after seeing this photo. Perhaps if the unit was put into a pair of ray-bans (like Gizmodo suggested) then I’d be more partial to it. That being said, I still want one.
