Looks like owners of the Gingerbread running Sony Xperia S are getting some good news this morning, Sony Mobile Australia’s Facebook page has been updated to advise owners of the handset that their Ice Cream Sandwich upgrade is ready. The update to Android 4.0.4 brings features such as Lock screen with improved functionality, Resizable widgets, Improved control of your mobile data consumption, Recent Apps button for clear overview of your applications and of course the ability to install the best browser of them all : Chrome. The Quote from their Facebook page :
Great news, the software upgrade for Android 4.0.4 Ice Cream Sandwich on Xperia™ S has begun. Your network providers will send a SMS notification directly to your phone when the upgrade is available to download. For further information keep an eye on http://blogs.sonymobile.com/products/
Sony did clarify in the comments that rather than as an SMS the alert will be received as a notification on the phone, I highly recommend going to Settings > About Phone > Software Update to check if the update is available for your phone yet. Sony advise that as well as being available as an OTA update from carriers, they will also provide the option of upgrading using a computer either using the web-based Xperia Update, PC Companion or Bridge for Mac. So now all you have to do is wait for the notification from your carrier. Now to start asking Sony where is your Jelly Bean.
