HTC may be about to announce a Smart Phone with a screen size of 5″ with a resolution of 1920×1080 but they won’t be the first. Instead that honour goes to Oppo, a company from China who appears to have majorly been an A/V company previously but has been making a few waves in the Smart Phone game, currently offering the thinnest Smart Phone the Oppo Finder which is just 6.65 mm thin. Continuing the trend Oppo has just announced the Find 5 which will offer a 5″ screen at 1920×1080 resolution and will be powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 Pro APQ8064 1.5GHz Quad-Core CPU.

The Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 Pro APQ8064 System on Chip(SOC) includes support for BlueTooth 4.0 and 802.11ac/a/b/g/n Wi-Fi but does not appear to have radios included on there which is one of the advantages of the MSM8960 version of the S4 Processor in phones such as the One XL which include the LTE Radio on chip and hence conserves battery life.

I have been in contact with a couple of Oppo suppliers in Australia and none of them will be importing the Oppo Find 5. I’m still waiting to hear back from Oppo themselves and also from Mobicity as to whether they will be distributing these phones in Australia, if not you may have to investigate Chinese based re-sellers to see if they will ship to Australia as none of the carriers in Australia have announced the phone at this stage either. Now, the big question, Is 1080P really required on Smart Phones?
