It’s finally here, ladies and gents. Nikon has announced the COOLPIX S800c is now on sale here in Australia. The point and shoot camera is equipped with a 16MP sensor and Android 2.3.3. Now you can take some great photos and ruin improve them by running it through an Instagram filter, and then share it on Facebook, Twitter or Google+.

While some people might not be happy with Android 2.3.3 on the device, you have to remember that this is primarily a camera, so you won’t be needing to run too many apps.

The lens ranges from 4.5 to 45 mm, and f/3.2 to f/5.8. The 3.5-inch touchscreen (of OLED makings) is 480×854 — 280ppi — which isn’t too bad, but not as good as the 4.77-inch 1280×720 display — 308ppi — on the Samsung Galaxy Camera. There’s 1.6GB internal memory, so a microSD card of up to 64GB to really make the most of the camera.

The Nikon COOLPIX S800c can be purchased from the following retailers:

  • CameraCity – $399
  • Cameras Plus – $449
  • JB Hi-Fi – arriving late October for ~$480
