We’ve been in contact with LG locally for information regarding the Nexus 4 and LG’s role in creating the latest phone in the Nexus lineup. They have advised what we already know, that the Nexus 4 will be available to order in both an 8GB and 16GB versions through Google Play from November 13. The Nexus 4 is being sold as an unlocked handset and is GSM/HSPA+ compatible so it will operate on every network provider in Australia. All that is required is a SIM card from a carrier and you’re good to go. The phone will be available in Late November with ‘Further information on offline availability in Australia will be available late November’ which hopefully indicates a carrier release for those who do not wish to purchase outright.

So far we have had no word back from the three major carriers in regards to them offering the Nexus 4 on plans at this stage but we know that there are definitely people out there who would welcome the ability to purchase the phone on a plan. We’ll be following up with information on local availability from carriers as soon as the information comes to hand.
