We heard a rumor a little while a go that the Galaxy S II would be getting a Jelly Bean Update around Q4 this year, well it seems as though you can download a near to perfect test release of Android 4.1.2 Jelly Bean for the Galaxy S II.
SamMobile have some instructions for how to go about flashing your Galaxy S II, with the test version of Android 4.1.2. You don’t need to have a rooted handset to do this, but you do need to be comfortable with applying un-official firmware to your handset. As usual, caveat emptor — we don’t take any responsibility if you manage to stuff your phone by doing this.
However, from our own experience, we can say that flashing a Galaxy S II really isn’t that difficult a task, and in most instances, a bungled flash can be recovered from. We recommend doing a backup first, of course.
For those who wish to wait for the official full release of Android 4.1.2 Jelly Bean, from the looks of the test firmware leak, it shouldn’t be long before Samsung release the update officially through Kies or via OTA.
