Xiaomi Mi-3

Once again Chinese manufacturer Xiaomi is throwing down the gauntlet to the major manufacturers – this time with the Mi-3, the follow on from it’s successful and also well spec’d Mi-2. The Mi-3 is not yet official — we understand that Xiaomi is waiting for Google’s I/O event which should see the announcement of Android Key Lime Pie, the Android version the Mi-3 is supposedly launching with.

Taking a few design cues from HTC’s new flagship handset the HTC One the Mi-3 boasts an impressive 5″ 1080p FHD screen running under a Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 clocking in at 2.4GHz. Also on board is a 13MP camera and a huge 3000mAh battery. Pricing is also yet to be announced and we would assume that will come with the official announcement of the handset from Xiaomi, however I would be assuming a price of around $300 USD, which is also a killer feature if proved correct.

This also comes only weeks after we brought you the story of the UMI X2, another 5″ 1080P handset out of China, along with the Oppo Find 5.

If this is anything to go by, the 5″ race for powerhouses under $500 is well under way.
