Following the relatively quiet launch and mediocre success of the Xperia Z, according the Xperia Blog; Sony are planning to release a new slightly less high-end phone codenamed Dogo, model number C550X that will be released publicly as the ‘Xperia ZR’. As with the Xperia Z, the ZR will be water resistant with an IP55/IP58 rating.
Rumored specifications for the device :
- Waterproof construction, up to 1.5m depth
- a 4.6-inch display (720 x 1280)
- 1.5GHz quad-core Qualcomm Processor
- 2GB RAM
- 13MP rear facing camera
- 8GB internal storage
- MicroSD card slot
- 2300mAh battery
- 10mm thick @ 140grams
The Xperia ZR is no slouch with regards to specs, although they appear to be going with a 720P display for this phone. For the power user who would like to carry large amounts of media or files with them, Sony have included a microSD card slot to offer options to those wanting more than the 8GB of internal storage provided, however the microSD Card was the source of a bricking issue with the Xperia Z so hopefully they have learned from that. While still only a rumor the details that Xperia blog have in the past been relatively reliable on this front.
