Just a couple of days ago, we saw rumours appear that Samsung was considering skipping the Android 4.2.2 update for the Galaxy Note II and the Samsung Galaxy S III. Yesterdays Telstra software update blog has indeed confirmed this with Craig Ruhan from Telstra posting the following update for the Galaxy Note II :
Samsung have elected globally to skip the 4.2.2 update for this device and will instead go to a newer version of Android. No schedule has been provided for this update.
With Android 4.3 having leaked for the Nexus 4 and Galaxy S4 Google Play edition so far it’s more than likely this is the ‘newer version’ that Samsung will opt for. Telstra has made no mention of an update for the Galaxy S III but if Samsung has gone this route for the Galaxy Note II, it’s conceivable that the Galaxy S III may see the same treatment.
