The fact that LG‘s 2012 flagship phone – the Optimus G – launched here in April, almost six months after its Korean debut in September 2012, has lead to much speculation about the local launch window for its successor, the G2.
The good news is that it appears LG has learned the importance of a global launch, and we’re now hopeful we’ll see the G2 soon after it’s officially unveiled in New York on August 7.
LG Australia says they’re working with local Mobile Operators to release their new flagship locally here in Australia in a timely fashion:
LG Australia is currently in commercial discussions with local operators for the supply of LG G2 into the Australian market in line with the product’s global release, the results of which will be finalized shortly.
Further information will be released in line with the global launch event and product announcements in early August.
LG has already confirmed the new device will have a Snapdragon 800 CPU, but further leaks have suggested that it will come with a 5.2-inch 1080p Full HD screen, 2 GB of RAM, and a 13 MP camera on the back above a uniquely positioned rear volume control rocker.
We really liked the original Optimus G when it eventually launched here, despite lacking on the specs front, as newer 2013 flagship phones had already been released by that time. Personally, I can’t wait to see where LG takes us with the G2, and will be anxiously awaiting the local launch.
