Well it seems the wait is over for long suffering owners of the Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 7″. It seems that Samsung Australia has finally pushed out Android 4.1.2 (Jelly Bean) update.
The update is only available though the Samsung Kies software at the moment, but that doesn’t preclude an OTA update being pushed out at a later – although Samsung Australia has yet to even announce the update, let alone a delivery mechanism for it – so Kies it is for the time being.
So far, I can say that the update has brought a heck of a lot of new features and improvements, such as increasing the size that apps use (almost full screen), moving notifications from the bottom right hand corner to the top and of course project butter, which has brought much needed speed improvements to apps, as well as faster swiping between various screens. It certainly seems to be running much more smoothly overall.
Here is just some screenshots from the update so far:
Now, while this isn’t an update to Googles latest version of Android, it does bring the Galaxy Tab 2 7″ into line with various other Galaxy line products that have been updated to the Jelly Bean ecosphere. There’s still no Photo Spheres but we can’t have everything.
If you haven’t got Kies, you can download it from the Samsung Website directly (for both MAC & PC) and download the update to your Tab.
Do you own a Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 7.0? Have you updated it to Android 4.1.2? What are your thoughts?
