Samsung has just announced its successor to the popular Samsung Galaxy Grand, the Galaxy Grand 2. The Grand series could be described as a budget Galaxy Note, big screen phones but with mid-range specifications to suit the lower price point when compared to the Galaxy Note. The new version, that is expected to be released before the end of the year, incorporates the design of the larger Galaxy Note 3, with a leather look back and faux stitching around the edges.
Unlike the Note series, the Galaxy Grand 2 doesn’t include the S-Pen stylus. The new Grand 2 has a larger screen – up from 5″ to 5.25″ – and a much needed boost in resolution to 720 x 1280 (280ppi). The specifications of the Galaxy Grand 2 are:
- TFT screen 5.25″ 720 x 1280
- 8GB storage expandable via microSD up to 64GB
- 1.5GB RAM
- Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n, dual band, Wi-Fi Hotspot, DLNA
- Bluetooth 4.0 with A2DP
- 8MP rear camera, autofocus, LED flash
- 1.9MP front camera
- Android 4.3 Jelly Bean
- Quad-core 1.2 GHz processor
- Accelerometer, gyro, proximity sensor
- GPS with A-GPS and GLONASS
- 2600mAH battery
- 146.8 x 75.3 x 8.9mm
- 163grams
