moto-360-official-1

Motorola caused quite a stir this week when it announced the extremely good looking Moto 360 smartwatch. However, aside from a few renders and a launch window of ‘Summer 2014’ (Winter for us Southern hemisphere folk), there was not much in the way of useful information. Instead, we’ve had to turn to unofficial channels to find out more. G For Games claims to have information from a Motorola source that says the Moto 360 will feature an OLED display, sapphire glass and magnetic induction wireless charging.

While these details are still just rumour and speculation, it doesn’t seem all that far-fetched. An OLED screen makes sense given that Motorola will understandably want to maximize battery life. Sapphire glass should provide the durability that a smartwatch requires, and reduce the risk of breaking the screen. And given that the Moto 360 doesn’t have a USB port, wireless charging is pretty much a no-brainer.

G For Games says their source has a pretty flawless track record when it comes to Moto devices (they were the first to reveal the Moto X and Moto G), so the chances that this info will become reality are fairly high. Still, they are just rumours at this stage. We’ll be following the Moto 360 closely in the coming weeks, and will be sure to let you know any future developments.

What do you think about these leaked details? Do they make you more or less excited for the Moto 360? Let us know in the comments.
