The successor to the Motorola Moto X has apparently shown up on benchmarking site GFXBench, giving us an insight into what could be announced later this ‘Summer’.
Motorola announced during a Q&A session held at Mobile World Congress (MWC) that they would be releasing an update to the Moto X in Summer (Our winter here in Australia). The use of the XT912 code is a little odd, given it was the original code for the Droid RAZR in the US, but this is the XT912A.
Anyway, the specs listed in GFXBench show that the updated Moto X, called the Moto X +1 according to @EvLeaks, will come with 5.2″ 1920 x 1080 display, 2.3-2.5GHz Snapdragon 800 processor, Adreno 330 GPU, 2GB RAM, 32GB on-board storage (24GB available to the user).
There will be the usual assortment of sensors and connectivity, from WiFi, Bluetooth, GPS and NFC to accelerometer, barometer, compass, gyroscope, lightsensor, proximity and for the health conscious a pedometer.
Camera wise, the Moto X +1 will come with a 12MP rear camera, with Auto-Focus, Flash and built-in HDR. The front-facing camera will be a 2MP shooter. Both front and rear cameras will be capable of FHD (1920×1080) video recording.
The Moto X +1 will come with Android 4.4.3 continuing Motorola’s commitment to launch their phones with the latest software.
The biggest question for any phone launch with Motorola is — quite rightly — whether they will launch the phone only in their home market of the US or whether new owners Lenovo will insist on a worldwide launch strategy. With the Moto Maker customisation service still only available in the US, if a world-wide launch is on the cards, we will probably not see Moto-Maker customisation here in Australia.
