Motorola has given the strongest indication yet of pricing for the upcoming Moto 360 smartwatch, disclosing the approximate retail value of $US 249 in the terms and conditions for a competition it’s running.
Motorola is running a watch-face design competition at the moment, where the grand prize is the Moto 360 itself. As we’ve found ourselves in running competitions, you’re (usually) required to disclose the approximate value of prizes being given away, and because there’s a Moto 360 up for grabs, the value has to be disclosed.
While there’s some room to move, of course, Motorola would be in a bit of trouble potentially if it advised a value of a prize in its terms and conditions and then went to retail the product for a vastly different price.
This puts the Moto 360 squarely within the “shut up and take my money” realm, and I suspect a lot of readers will be thinking along the same lines.
